A GAB WITH DEATH
To help individuals come to terms with death, it’s crucial to change how they perceive it. The podcast "Obitchuary," hosted by Spencer Henry and Madison Reyes under the Morbid network, exemplifies this approach by mixing humor with macabre themes, delving into topics like death, burials, and obituaries. Their respectful yet lighthearted tone has attracted a dedicated audience eager to explore these darker subjects.
To further engage this community, we propose a limited-edition comic series. These comics will follow characters on their journeys to accept mortality, drawing from real-life testimonies to avoid stereotypes. The narratives will touch on themes such as personal mortality, supporting grieving loved ones, and celebrating cherished memories that aid the grieving process. The aim is to provide comfort to those at different stages of grief through "Testimonies" that highlight positive, relatable experiences.
Using nostalgic imagery and heartwarming moments, the comics will foster emotional connections, while humor will help reframe death as a celebration rather than just a loss. The Grim Reaper, typically viewed as a menacing figure, will be reimagined as a comforting guide, offering a new perspective on death.
The comic’s color palette will transition throughout the day: warm oranges and yellows in the morning, moody reds and pinks at midday, and calming blues and purples at night. This progression will help readers track the narrative's stages and evoke a nostalgic, sentimental atmosphere reminiscent of old family photos or videos.
